In 1942, the 82nd Infantry Division at Camp Claiborne, Louisiana, was split in two. One of the new divisions began intense preparations and training for a surprise landing on the Nazi-occupied European continent. The location was Normandy, France; the date was June 6, 1944; and the division was the 101st Airborne--the legendary “band of brothers.” This is the story of that division’s heroic performance on D-Day, and right up to the Allied victory in Europe. Filled with historic images, many never before published, it is also a tribute to the fallen men of the 101st.

Great Price for a Great Book
Amazon had the best price of any vendor for this book. I chose super saver shipping and still got it in a few days. Amazon is by far the best place to buy books.
Vibrant portrait
This book did not disappoint. It is filled with photos, personal accounts, and historical details that bring to life an amazing piece of heroism. I would have liked a list of all of the members of the company in an appendix.
A must have for any WWII or 101st Airborne fan
This is a fantastic book to be able to read and look at images never seen before in other WWII historical books. It is very interesting to read and be able to share with friends or family memebers who are interested in WWII history as well. Truly a beautiful book.
More history from the guy who wrote it
The Screaming Eagles of WWII would be much more poorly documented had it not been for the work of ex-Detroit cop Mark Bando. He's spent his free time since adolescence recording the memories of a lot of 101st troopers who have since passed away. Almost forty years later and he's still at it.
For those without some of Mark's earlier small-batch works like the original »Trigger Time«, this is your chance to get caught up on the history that isn't in »Band of Brothers«. And of course as a 3/502 loyalist, I have to publicly thank hime for putting a pic of LTC Cole on the back cover.
Fantastic, Bando's best work yet
Just an incredible history including photographic evidence of the 101st from the beginning to the end of the european war. Filled with information, fantastic never before seen photos, personal stories, and even a 101st collector's, buyer's guide with tips at the end. Bando's best book yet, a MUST own, even if only just, the tiniest bit fascinated by world war two. I've already read it twice, and both my mother and sister are half way through it, and these two are very much, uninterested in world war 2. It's just that good a book, completely readable by all, absolutely fantastic for the ww2 buff!
