Product Description With a rousing “we’re all in this together” attitude, Leah Feldon proves that a well-chosen wardrobe can render any figure fabulous. “All we have to do,” writes Feldon, “is choose the right clothes—clothes that camouflage any real or imagined figure flaws rather than highlighting them—and learn how to do it with ultimate style and confidence.” Take five pounds off your look with a new hemline; disguise a bit of bulge with a cleverly designed blouse; highlight your best assets with the perfect accessories. The key to “camouflage chic” is dressing to suit your body type, comfort level, and lifestyle—all while maximizing your own personal flair.
Instead of spending another moment agonizing in front of the closet, you’ll learn how to:
* distinguish between “yes” and “no” colors
* lose the tummy without the tuck
* perk up your basic black
* create optical illusions for a long, lean look
* conquer the dreaded bathing-suit challenge
* follow timeless tenets of good taste
Packed with empowering, easy-to-implement tips, fun illustrations, and celebrity style secrets, Does This Make Me Look Fat? provides all the information you’ll need to create a slimmer, more stylish, and better-proportioned look (and to help your man do it, too!).

Not only about shape, but about style, too
If you (like me) are blessed with a beautifull curvy body that looks best when it's naked, and worst when dressed to the nines, this book is for you. The best is that you can really understand the principles (if you don't, create your personal model on the Land's End website and try them out). The book will give you a perfect guideline on how to follow fashion wisely, spend less and still stay ahead of the crowd of fashion victims.
It relies heavily on black (people bring me a chair to sit down if I wear black as it makes me look like an undertaker's diploma piece), but the method of »camouflage chic« works as well with other darker colors.
Especially helpful if you sew yourself and have to make decisions on style and detailing without being able to try the garment on!
Still a great primer
This isn't a book on finding your personal style. There aren't any personality questionnaires to fill out or style profiles to pore over. Ms. Feldon has instead written a perfectly entertaining and informative book showing women the basics for using optical illusion to hide flaws and enhance assets.
I've had my copy since the book was first released. Because this book is more about the principles of dressing rather than specific fashion advice, the contents are still very relevant, despite the fact that it was published in 2000.
Most valuable to me and my wardrobe were the points Ms. Feldon makes on monochromatic dressing, proportion and uniforms. These three principles alone changed the way I dressed –- and subsequently improved my overall image.

not only for soft shaped ladies! basic rules of harmonious figure
I am Italian and I sew. this means that clothing is a basic necessity for me. I am blessed with a good figure but everytime I help a friend in looking at her best, I have not been able to tell her why I insist for a certain lenght or a neckline. in this book there are the reasons why certain harmonies are so perfect and why other choices are wrong on two ladies apparently similar. It is the basic book to reinvent the proportions of the body you don't know how to look at- yours -and to look just beautiful. it is the written version of what enhainces without all the mistery aura of the »good tasted gurus«. to be read and to be offered as a gift.
What a neat book!
This book is so cute and well written! I loved the author's sense of humor and laughed so much while reading this. She's got some great artistic principles that she applies expertly to different body styles. If you want to look thinner, don't consider losing weight (unless you need to), just dress as she suggests to look 10 pounds thinner. Great author with a realistic view of women and their body issues.
