What a wonderful book! This is the second of Claudia Nice's books on painting with watercolor, pen & ink that I have ordered. First of all it is a beautiful book just to read and enjoy. Her instructions are clearly written and easy to follow. The illustrations are wonderful! I've just finished reading it from cover to cover and can't wait to begin painting. I highly recommend this book!
This is an excellent book for learning and understanding the structure and emotions of different animals, even if you don't use pen and ink or watercolor. I have little actual art background and am pretty much self learning; this book is full of detailed information about ears, paws, different ways to show coat texture, etc. I was very pleasantly surprised at the detail that Claudia Nice covered and would recommend this book highly to anyone truly wishing to paint/sketch, etc, animals with accuracy. She also covers the actual watercolors she uses on the different paintings to give you an idea of how they work together to add depth and interest. Highly recommend this book to anyone with an eye towards portraying animals in all their glory.
